Refunds by payment method: how and when the money comes back
What can and cannot be refunded on a top-up, how the money returns with card, PayPal and crypto, and how long each route usually takes.

Before the method: was the top-up delivered?
If the order never got delivered, the refund is straightforward and returns the way the payment came. If the top-up already credited to the right number, there is no way to undo it: the operator does not reverse spent credit.
That is why the number and operator are checked before paying, not after. It is the only moment when that mistake is reversible.
Card: back to the same plastic
The refund goes back to the same card used to pay; it cannot be sent to another account or card. From the moment it is ordered to the moment it shows on your statement, several business days pass, and that timing is set by your issuer.
If you paid in another currency, the refunded amount may differ slightly from the charged one: they are two conversions made on different days at different rates.
PayPal: back to the account, then to its source
The money returns to the PayPal account you paid with. If the payment was funded by a card, PayPal forwards it to that card and the issuer's timelines apply again.
Before opening a dispute it is worth writing to support with the order reference: an automated dispute does not see the delivery context and usually takes longer than resolving it directly.
Crypto: always manual, to a confirmed address
A crypto refund is not automated: it is agreed with support and sent to an address you confirm. The address you paid from is not used as the destination, because very often it belongs to an exchange rather than to you.
The same applies to an overpayment: the order is delivered and the excess is recorded to be returned separately. Sending the exact figure saves that process.
Final checklist before you send
Confirm the recipient number from a current source before paying. A saved contact can be outdated, copied with extra characters, or tied to a SIM the recipient no longer uses.
Review country and carrier together. A correct number with the wrong operator can fail or route incorrectly, especially when a family member has changed lines.
Choose the product for the recipient's next real need: flexible airtime for plan control, data when connectivity is the priority, and promotions only when the rules are clear.
Keep one checkout session open and wait for the final status before retrying. Multiple attempts can create duplicate payments or confusing pending states.
Save the receipt until the recipient confirms the balance or package. The transaction reference is the fastest path for support if the operator takes longer than expected.

Article FAQs
Can I request the refund to another card or address?
With card and PayPal, no: the money returns the way it came, and that rule protects against fraud. With crypto the address is confirmed with you precisely because no automatic return path exists.
Are fees refunded?
An undelivered order is refunded for its amount. Whatever your bank, PayPal or the network charged on their side is not part of the order and cannot be refunded from here.
How long does it take?
The instruction is issued right away; what takes time is the return journey. With card and PayPal it depends on the issuer and usually means business days; with crypto it depends on when the destination address is confirmed with you.
What if I got the number wrong?
Write to support immediately with the order reference. If the top-up has not gone out yet it can be stopped; if it already credited, the operator does not reverse it and no payment method changes that.
