How to install and configure an eSIM on iPhone or iPad

Use the one-tap link, scan the QR code or enter the SM-DP+ details manually, then choose the eSIM for travel data.

Before you install

A profile download needs internet access and can fail when the device is restricted or incompatible. Check these points first.

Connect the iPhone or cellular iPad to stable Wi-Fi or mobile data and turn Airplane Mode off.
Confirm that the device supports eSIM and is updated. Dial *#06# and look for an EID if you are unsure.
Open Settings → General → About. Under Carrier Lock, the device should show No SIM Restrictions.
Keep the RecargaDoble delivery message open with the install link, QR code, SM-DP+ address and activation code.
Check when the plan validity starts. Some plans begin when they first connect, while others can begin at installation.

Three ways to add the eSIM

Use only one method. Once the profile appears under Cellular or Mobile Data, continue with the configuration section.

Install with the one-tap URL

On iOS and iPadOS 17.4 or later, the secure install link opens the system eSIM setup without scanning another screen.

1Open the RecargaDoble delivery message on the iPhone or iPad where the eSIM will be used.
2Tap Install eSIM for iOS. Open the link in the external browser if an email or in-app browser does not launch Settings.
3When the system shows Add eSIM or Activate New eSIM, tap Continue and confirm the download.
4Wait until the profile finishes installing. This can take several minutes; do not close Settings or restart the device.

If the link does not open, confirm iOS 17.4 or later and use the QR or manual method below.

Install with the QR code

Display the QR code on another device, or select it from Photos when that option is available.

1Go to Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data → Add eSIM → Use QR Code.
2Scan the RecargaDoble QR code from another screen. You can also scan it with Camera and tap the detected cellular plan.
3If Open Photos appears, choose the saved QR image instead of scanning another screen.
4Tap Continue, wait for the profile download and finish with Done.

Treat the QR as a private, potentially single-use credential. Do not post it or send it to another person.

Enter the installation details manually

Use this method when the QR cannot be scanned or the one-tap link is unavailable.

1Go to Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data → Add eSIM → Use QR Code.
2Tap Enter Details Manually at the bottom of the scanner.
3Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code exactly as shown in the RecargaDoble delivery details.
4Leave Confirmation Code empty unless your delivery details explicitly include one, then tap Next and wait for installation.

What is the one-tap installation URL?

It is a platform link that carries the same private LPA installation data as the QR code and opens the native Apple eSIM flow. A valid link follows this recognizable structure; the placeholders are not real credentials:

Use only the complete link delivered by RecargaDoble. Never build a link from this example, edit its characters or share it publicly.

Configure the eSIM for travel data

Installing the profile and choosing the line for data are separate steps. Complete this setup before expecting an internet connection.

Step 1
Give the new line a clear label such as Travel or RecargaDoble eSIM.
Step 2
Keep your primary line as the default for calls, SMS, iMessage and FaceTime unless your plan says otherwise.
Step 3
Open Settings → Cellular or Mobile Data and select the new eSIM for Cellular Data.
Step 4
Turn Allow Cellular Data Switching off if you do not want the phone to fall back to your primary plan and create roaming charges.
Step 5
Open the eSIM line, turn on This Line and enable Data Roaming when you are ready to use it in the covered destination.
Step 6
If the delivery details include an APN, enter it exactly under Cellular Data Network. Otherwise, leave the automatically supplied APN unchanged.

iPhone and iPad troubleshooting

Most connection problems come from compatibility, line selection, roaming or an incomplete profile download.

The one-tap link opens a blank page or does nothing

Open it on the target device with Safari or the external browser, confirm iOS or iPadOS 17.4 or later, and try again. If the native Add eSIM screen still does not appear, use the QR code or manual details.

The QR code will not scan

Increase the brightness of the screen showing the QR, avoid glare and confirm the whole code is visible. If available, save it and use Open Photos, or enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually.

The phone says the activation code is invalid

Check that every character is exact and that the profile was not already installed. Installation credentials may be single-use. Do not delete an installed profile; contact RecargaDoble support with the order and error screenshot.

The eSIM is installed but there is no internet

Select the eSIM under Cellular Data, turn on the line and Data Roaming, then toggle Airplane Mode or restart. Verify the destination is covered and enter the APN only when one was provided.

Can I keep receiving calls on my regular number?

Yes, on compatible dual-SIM devices. Keep the primary line enabled for calls and messages and select the travel eSIM only for mobile data. Charges from the primary line still depend on its own plan.

I deleted the eSIM profile

Do not attempt repeated downloads with the same QR or link. Installation credentials can be single-use. Contact RecargaDoble support to check whether the profile can be restored or must be reissued.
